2020 Beckman Award

Applications are being accepted for the 2020 Beckman Award. The award is named in honor of Rich Beckman, the Director of Visual Communication in the UNC Hussman School from 1978 to 2008. He focuses his work on documentary multimedia for social change and has worked with a number of organizations as a documentary producer and educator.

The award honors his tradition of strong documentary work by funding a student or students each year to pursue a long-form storytelling project. Previous grantees have worked in such places as the Philippines, Ecuador, the Grand Canyon and Louisiana.

Please see the About page for more information and a video of the award donor and Beckman discussing their goals for the recipient award.
